THA unveils £500k overseas office strategy

Agency THA Group is set to open a further four overseas offices by the end of this year in Paris, Munich, Barcelona and Milan as it seeks to further extend its international reach. The £500,000-plus push will begin with the French and German set-ups, followed by Spain and Italy, THA chief executive Darren Gilbert told C&IT. “I expect Paris and Munich to launch by the end of September and Barcelona and Milan to follow by the end of the year at latest,” he said. The four join the agency’s existing offices in Leicester, Thames Ditton and Brussels. THA’s US office closed at the end of last year as the company sought to focus on European business, according to Gilbert. It is envisaged that there will be two or three staff at each of the new set-ups, made up of local recruits supported by existing THA staff. “Most of our clients have a significant presence in Europe and to take a truly local approach we need to have a local presence,” Gilbert explained. The moves were partially inspired by demand from clients, he added. Asked whether there were specific projects that would be led by the new offices, Gilbert said he’d received assurances from some companies, particularly from one of its pharmaceutical clients. If the new offices are a success, more will follow Gilbert said: “I wouldn’t expect it to be the end of our expansion in Europe,” he concluded.
