Dundee CVB celebrates record figures

Dundee & Angus Convention Bureau is celebrating record C&I income in the area by seething itself even higher targets for the next two years. Latest figures show that in 2007 some £48m-worth of event business happened in the region – a £2m rise on 2006. During the course of 2008/2009 the CVB has said it is now aiming to attract a further £5.5 million of delegate expenditure to the area. “This year is set to be another success, with major conferences taking place in the area,” said Dundee & Angus Convention Bureau business tourism manager Karen Tocher. “During the next five years we aim to increase the value of the business tourism market for Dundee & Angus by at least 10% per year.” Dundee City Council economic development committee convener Joe Morrow added: "The increased hotel accommodation planned for the next few years, particularly around the Waterfront, will make Dundee an even more attractive place to bring larger conferences. Dundee City Council will continue to work closely with the convention bureau to help it cement the future of the area as a leading conference destination." Conferences held in the city and surrounding area throughout 2007 the Royal College of Nursing’s international research conference and the British Society for Dermatology Surgery’s annual workshop.
