National Theatre launches event space

London’s National Theatre has launched a new al fresco event space that is available for corporate hire. Located on its highest terrace and overlooking the Thames, the Deck is open between May and September and is available for functions ranging from parties to fine dining with a potential capacity of 120 delegates. The design-led temporary structure combines a translucent room with decking to create what the venue describes as “an inside-outside feel”, with 90-degree views and fully retractable walls to combat inclement weather. As well as the venue itself, the National Theatre has created a “Skyline Stories” offer, where specialist guides can be hired to entertain guests with an oral journey through London’s history, revealing some of the stories behind the host of iconic landmarks visible from the Deck itself. "The Deck has already proved to be one of the most highly sought after summer event spaces in London this year,” said National Theatre function venue sales executive Kat Parker. “Within weeks of launching, we played host to a wide range of events including an awards ceremony for Britain's top 100 'Green Companies', the launch of an autumn/winter collection by a top fashion retailer and a reception to mark the start of the World Architecture Festival, to name a few. Further into the summer, The Deck is looking forward to working with well-known clients from the fragrance industry, private medical services, top law firms and financial services."
