Mango acquired by fellow agency

Sportsworld Group has acquired fellow agency Mango Event Management in a move designed to capture greater share in the London Olympic Games corporate event market. Mango Event Management, which comprises C&I specialist Mango Events, hospitality specialist Mango Sport, concierge service Mango Host and Mango London, which deals with inbound C&I business, will continue to operate under its own name and remain in its London office. Sportsworld, based near Oxford with offices in China and Australia, specialises in hospitality and travel programmes at sport and cultural events. Its major appointments include work with Mastercard at Uefa Euro 2008 and Samsung at the Beijing Olympic Games. Both agencies will collaborate on client programme delivery and development of new concepts. Mango managing director Lindsay Whitmore, who will join the Sportsworld Group board, said the acquisition would provide Mango with “desired logistical expertise, improved industry relationships and a broader portfolio of services to offer clients” Sportsworld chief executive Chad Lion-Cachet said: “As the media landscape continues to fragment and more spend is allocated to sponsorship and live events, we now have added capacity and skills to deliver the brand experience our clients expect.”
