Grass Roots managing director retires

Grass Roots managing director Rik Burrage has retired after 22 years with the business. He is replaced by Andy Lister, formerly board director at Grass Roots, who joined the agency in 2001. Burrage, 61, will retain a place on the board as a non-executive director. “Rik has had a wonderful career,” Grass Roots Group (GRG) chairman and founder David Evans told C&IT. “He feels the business is in the right place for him to be able to let go of the reins. He is staying on, so it’s a bit early for tributes, but he is a great friend and leader, and his solidity has provided an excellent counterbalance to my entrepreneurial spirit.” Burrage joined Grass Roots from client Kodak in 1986, and covered executive roles in sales, operations, HR and finance before becoming managing director in 2001. Lister, an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, set up the Employee Benefits division upon joining Grass Roots in 2001 and was made board director in 2004. “It’s a great honour to take over,” he said. “We have a talented and dedicated team and my goal is to continue the success story.”
