Fresh acquires rival agency

Fresh has acquired rival agency Full Fat Media as part of a bullish growth strategy, which is likely to see it purchase up to four more agencies this year. Full Fat Media offered conference, venue finding and production and the deal sees three of its five staff move to Fresh including managing director and owner, Lee Ashton, who has been appointed to the position of account director. The remaining staff are now working on a freelance basis. Fresh managing director Nick Porter said he targeted Full Fat Media because of its clients, which include Mothercare, American Golf, Timberland and Rentokil. “They had some great clients and did some nice work and we knew them prior to the acquisition,” he said. Porter said Fresh, which has upped its staff from two to 45 over the past four years, was looking to acquire up to four small event or advertising agencies or one large company in 2008. Fresh’s clients include Marks and Spencer, Tesco and Npower, and this year it intends targeting the pharmaceutical market. Porter said it would do this through recruiting specialist staff or acquiring a pharmaceutical-facing event agency. Porter said Fresh recorded turnover of £7m in the past year and that it has “£4m worth of pitch work out there”. The agency relocated to a £2.2m office at Cheadle Royal last September.
