HBAA partner wins Tim Gasson memorial prize

The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) has awarded its inaugural Tim Gasson Memorial Prize to Netherlands-based partner Robbert-Jan Meinardi. Meinardi, who is global sales and event manager for Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin, received the prize, following nominations by HBAA members and partners, at the HBAA annual dinner, for raising awareness of the association in Europe. The award was presented in recognition of the “exhaustive commitment and dedication to championing professionalism and awareness of the hotel booking agents sector” by Gasson, who was HBAA chairman and managing director of agency Absolute Corporate Events when he died in a car crash last May. HBAA chair Sue Burgess said Gasson was an industry stalwart, who was involved in HBAA from its inception. “He was tireless in his pursuit of taking the association forward and it is fitting that we recognise him with this Memorial Prize,” she said. Meinardi added: “Tim was highly respected in the sector and is sadly missed by us all. I am extremely proud to be given this award and to be associated with his commitment.”
