Rapiergroup unveils business plans for Opus

Rapiergroup has unveiled its business strategy for Opus Creative Marketing following its purchase of the agency last week for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition of the agency – formerly Mice OCM – was a joint venture between Hertfortshire-based agency Rapiergroup and Hong Kong-based Pico, which runs events and theme parks throughout the world. Both companies have an equal share in the business. The purchase comes in the wake of Mice UK, Mice OCM’s former parent company, going into administration some five weeks ago. Rapiergroup managing director Nick de Bois said Opus Creative Marketing would retain its branding and be encouraged to develop and expand its core business of live events and performance improvement. “We want to see this company thrive so we have no wish to swallow it up into our existing organisation,” said de Bois. “We want to keep its creative team together and functioning in its own right to continue to develop clients and win awards.” Opus Creative Marketing would remain in its Northampton base and de Bois added there were plans to invest in the agency. “As part of the investment programme, one of the things we are looking at is refreshing the company, which will include taking a considered look at the premises, but it will stay in Northampton,” he said. The agency, which employs 30 staff, has clients in the automotive, healthcare, financial services, retail, and food services sectors including Nestlé and Bupa. “One of the real attractions for us was that the agency is very complementary to Rapiergroup because it brings a new client base and skills, and we are particularly excited that they are leaders in driving performance improvement solutions,” said de Bois. Rapiergroup has offices in Cambridge, the US and Dubai. De Bois said it planned to establish offices in China within the next two years.
