European Group restructures management

Event management company European Group’s managing director post, held by Adam Austin, has been made redundant as a result of structural changes. Austin’s PA and a marketing assistant have also left the company as part of the restructuring, which is designed to increase the company’s growth and profitability. European Group chairman and chief executive Christopher Palmer-Jeffery will resume the responsibilities of managing director. He said the structural changes removed a layer of management and administration and would enable faster decision-making and increase the company’s competitiveness. “The European Group has made substantial progress in the past few years and in order to sustain that growth we have made a number of structural changes,” said Palmer-Jeffery. “I am looking forward to getting back in the driving seat and taking the company forward.” European Group chief operating officer Stephen Coverdale said the restructuring followed a business review, which took place over several months. “We have great plans for the future but for some of them to be instigated, changes in roles and responsibilities had to take place,” he said. “We are looking at new ventures and hopefully acquiring some new venues.” The company planned to recruit four additional staff in sales, creative services and administration, he added.
