MPI unveils new UK board

Clarity Event Insurance managing director Paul Cook has been appointed MPI UK Chapter president a year ahead of schedule following the pending departure of president elect Sofia Vandaele to the US. Cook was initially due to be president elect but took up the presidency on 1 July because Vandaele, currently Sheraton Belgravia hotel manager, has been recruited to the position of director of operations at W New York – The Tuscany and W New York – The Court. She is due to take up her new position in mid September. Peter Haigh, Preferred Hotels regional director – Northern Europe - is now the past president, and EIBTM event director Mandy Torrens is the president elect. We have a very strong, committed team and I have a lot of time to give the organisation because I feel there are significant benefits for members.” The organisation intends focusing on professional development of its members, ensuring top quality training and networking opportunities were provided. “There will be more variety going into the programme this year,” said Cook.
