C&IT unveils South African CSR challenge

C&IT magazine is calling on agencies to highlight their CSR credentials by taking part in the first-ever C&IT CSR Challenge, which takes place in South Africa this September. As part of the magazine’s Campaign for Change, the event will see C&IT, in association with South African Tourism, take a group of ten agencies down to KwaZulu Natal from 3-9 September. The venture will see the group take part in a three-day build at the Mziki project, in the Ixopo area of South Africa. Arranged by Community Challenge and Habitat for Humanity, the build will be followed by a two-night incentive programme in the KwaZulu Natal region. Agencies looking to take part in the venture are asked to fundraise a minimum of £500 for Habitat for Humanity, to go towards the cost of the build. In the first instance, those interested in securing a place should email citcampaign@haymarket.com by 13 July, outlining how their CSR agenda has developed over the past 12 months. The event, supported by industry association Eventia, is designed to combine the three pillars of CSR by addressing the environmental, social and community-based aspects of an incentive. As well as the practical aspects of the scheme, it is also designed to champion those agencies committed to CSR-led events. “The purpose of the event is two-fold,” said C&IT editor Yasmin Razak. “We want to highlight the agencies that have made the strongest commitment to CSR and put it at the heart of their agenda during the two years of our campaign. Additionally, we want to provide a clear template of an incentive that can be pitched to clients who need their event solutions to match their CSR policy.” There will also be a seminar session during the trip, for the group to brainstorm and share ideas on pitching CSR event solutions to clients. Contact the C&IT team at citcampaign@haymarket.com for more details.
