Consumer agency enters C&I sector

Consumer experiential agency RPM has signaled a move into the MICE market with the creation of a dedicated conference and events team. The team will be headed by former Eventworks project manager Alex Webb, who fills the newly created position of specialist events director. She will initially head up a team of three to cater for the C&I market. “Alex’s objective is to grow this team into a significant player within this discipline, growing overall revenues within the RPM group,” RPM managing partner Hugh Robertson said of the move. Webb’s remit is to handle all business-to-business briefs that fall outside RPM’s traditional areas of experiential and field marketing, and involve stand-alone productions. The team will look to build on the success of previous B2B events RPM has handled, such as Umbro’s licensee conferences and broadcaster Sky’s staff events. Webb has ten years event and agency experience and has most recently been freelancing as an account director at RPM where she directed the Umbro and Sky projects. “There was a realisation at RPM that there are brands out there who want to do conferences or events who just aren’t being serviced properly,” said Webb. “These events are often very production-heavy, but we have a strong production department to provide the core skills to add this to our offer.”
