Quinn to upgrade Belfry after buy-out

Investment giant the Quinn Group has completed its takeover of the Belfry Golf and Hotel complex in Warwickshire from De Vere, following the announcement of a buy-out of the management agreement of the venue for an undisclosed sum. The move follows Quinn’s purchase of the Belfry from De Vere in 2005. At that stage Quinn entered into an agreement for De Vere to manage the property. Quinn will now both own and manage the property directly. According to a statement from the company, Quinn intends to redevelop the complex: “The Belfry has been host to four Ryder Cups and is one of Europe’s leading golf courses and conference centres. We intend to further enhance its reputation by developing a world class hotel and leisure complex.” Quinn Group declined to comment as to what the redevelopments might entail as C&IT went to press. For its part, De Vere says it will invest the capital it receives for the deal in its ongoing refurbishment of its portfolio.
