Eventia unveils new CSR director

Maritz director of marketing Aileen Reuter has joined Eventia’s board of directors to lead its CSR efforts. The move follows former postholder (and BI head of events) Emma Bainbridge’s move from to Shanghai to with BI subsidiary Mint last month. “Emma did a great job for us in helping to develop our Carbon Considerate campaign,” said Eventia executive director Izania Downie. “As soon as she told us she was leaving for Shanghai we put out feelers for someone who shares her passion for CSR and sustainability issues. We are delighted to have found such an environmental champion in Aileen.” Reuter has been with Maritz for 11 years, prior to which she ran her own marketing services business. According to Eventia, she has long been an enthusiastic exponent of CSR, and is committed to applying environmental and sustainability good practice to event management. Her first task on joining the Eventia Board is to progress the association’s One Per Cent Green Initiative, announced last year by Eventia Chairman Nigel Cooper. Under this scheme, Eventia agencies will ask corporate clients to accept a charge equivalent to one per cent of the cost of each event organised and the money donated will fund sustainable energy and reforestation projects. Eventia is close to finalising arrangements with a selected partner organisation for the scheme, which will provide the mechanism for donations to be collected and dispensed to appropriate projects with the announcement expected to be made at Frankfurt’s Imex show later this month. Meanwhile Eventia has announced that it is to bring this year's Workout event forward to coincide with the first day of its summer conference, on Sunday 1 July. It follows last year's inaugural Autumn Workout charity event, which saw over 100 people take part in events such as a 5km fun run. This year's get together will have a similar format and the summer conference runs from 1-3 July at Beaumont House in Windsor, Berkshire.
