Industry stalwart joins Preferred group

Industry stalwart Peter Haigh has joined the Preferred Hotels Group as its regional director for northern Europe, with responsibilities for the UK, Ireland, Benelux, Scandinavian and Baltic territories and Russia. “This is a great opportunity to work with a company going through a huge growth spurt,” said Haigh. “I have 25 years of experience in the industry that I will be using to help grow the group as a whole and business within individual properties.” Haigh, who is also president of the UK chapter of MPI, said he had been given a dual remit. The first is to build relationships with existing partners, working with the sales and distribution teams to help them expand their businesses and the second is to add properties to the portfolio. Currently the company has 375 hotels across its Preferred, Boutique, Summit and Sterling brands. For the last year Haigh has had his own consultancy, Hamilton Haigh, which will now cease operation. Previous to that he worked at Meriden Hotels where he was regional director of sales operations for Europe.
