ITM Awards: top slot for World Events

World Events took the plaudits at Eventia’s inaugural International Travel and Meetings Awards last Friday, held in association with C&IT magazine, after it landed the Platinum Award for its work with pharmaceutical giant Norgine. Norgine’s centenary celebration bagged the gong for World Events, which organised ‘The South African Story’, which combined a conference at Sun City Resort with a team-building and motivational event. The latter saw delegates fundraise ahead of the trip for South African township Mabele-A-Podi, which has been wracked by HIV and Aids, before heading to the area to help build four new homes. "It is fantastic that the team's hard work has been recognised with this prestigious award," said World Events account manager Stephanie Harris. "Norgine and World Events have worked regularly together for a number of years.  However, this centenary event for Norgine was unique in so many ways – which was truly recognised at the awards.  We are very proud of this great achievement." The Platinum award followed Golds for ‘The South African Story’ in the Best Conference or Congress (Long Haul), Best Celebratory Event and Best Event Demonstrating CSR. Elsewhere at the Awards, P&MM picked up five Golds for its World Cup work with T-Mobile and tenth anniversary project for network marketing company Nikken, while sister agency Archer Young won two Golds for its work for O2. Tony Moy was given the Lifetime Achievement award, celebrating a career spanning over 40 years.
