PWC limits long-haul incentives

Consultancy giant Pricewaterhouse coopers (PWC) is set to cut back on long-haul incentive travel as it looks to reinforce its CSR credentials. Speaking at yesterday’s HBAA annual forum, PWC head of sourcing Iain Palfreman told delegates: “We have been talking to the Carbon Trust, but it’s not good enough to just plant more trees, we have to reduce the amount of carbon we produce. We have gone to the board with this as part of our carbon reduction strategy and we are currently awaiting approval, but [PWC UK chairman] Kieran Poynter is a massive advocate of carbon reduction and so we could well be looking at [localising incentive travel] soon.” Palfreman also told the seminar that PWC sees moves towards stronger CSR policies as an opportunity to generate revenue rather than a cost burden. “It is a real opportunity for those who move first,” he said. “It’s not going to go away and it is going to affect everyone. Our policies saved us £1.5m last year and at worst CSR should be cost-neutral.”
