Von Essen completes chain acquisition

The von Essen Hotels group has completed its £8.7m purchase of the Luxury Family Hotels (LFH) chain, with the purchase of The Ickworth Hotel in Suffolk. Von Essen kicked off the deal in January when it took control of the other three hotels in the LFH portfolio – Dower House in Suffolk, Fowey Hall in Cornwall and Dorset’s Moonfleet Manor. Von Essen has kept the LFH branding and the company is currently in the process of rebranding its Worcester property The Elms to operate under the LFH umbrella. The Ickworth Hotel – the former home of the Marquis of Bristol and set in 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland – has run as a Luxury Family Hotel under a short-term licence from von Essen since January. Von Essen chairman Andrew Davis said: “Our aim to move into the very important family hotel sector was achieved at the beginning of the year and we will continue to develop and support this collection of hotels as a key part of the Von Essen business.”
