Eventia takes first hosted buyer group to EIBTM

Eventia will take its first hosted buyer group of between ten and 20 of its members to EIBTM in Barcelona at the end of November. The trip will also feature an educational element with a breakfast forum hosted by board member and newly appointed executive director Izania Downie. Downie said that tradeshows were a "key part" of the event industry and that the decision to host group buyers at EIBTM was partly inspired by successful breakfast forums at Confex. She added: "I’m particularly keen to make the opportunity available to account manager-level staff who are working at the ‘coal face’ of event management. "This trip will form part of our education programme, and will provide the opportunity to talk about the business of producing events with some of the young guns who are engaged in the activity on a day-to-day basis." Oxford International managing director John Walker will head Eventia’s education committee and is inviting industry leaders from key sectors to speak at the forum. Downie’s current employer, Starwood, is a confirmed sponsor. EIBTM takes place between 28 to 30 November.
