Jack Morton Worldwide director receives honorary degree

A director of Jack Morton Worldwide has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Middlesex University that recognises his achievements in the events industry. David Zolkwer, a graduate of the university, leads a growing international team of public events specialists for the agency. His work includes the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2004 Athens Olympics as well as the Commonwealth Games in both Manchester and most recently Melbourne in 2006. He was also responsible for the historic Hong Kong handover & farewell Ceremonies in 1997. Recent work for Jack Morton Worldwide includes an event for 19,000 IBM employees and investors in Bangalore, India earlier this year, the largest live communication event in the company’s history. Middlesex awards honorary doctorate degrees to those who are making an outstanding contribution to their profession, to their community, or directly to the university. Other 2006 recipients include: Andrea Levy, the novelist, Mike Figgis, the film director, Sir Terry Leahy, chief executive of Tesco plc and John Hegarty, Worldwide Creative Director of advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
