MCI harvests benefit of global expansion

Association, communications and events management group MCI has reported annual turnover of £62m for 2005, 10.7% up on 2004. In the same period the number of corporate events handled has risen to account for 54% of business against 51% in 2004. The growth was down to the group’s continued global expansion – including the recent announcement of a new Dubai office – according to marketing and communications director Martti Wichmann, who also stressed that there had been no acquisitions. “Our continued expansion means that we can now service our clients’ needs beyond Europe,” he said. “This globalisation helped us achieve last year’s organic growth as we expanded our offering with existing clients by selling them additional services.” According to Wichmann, client wins were a core part of the revenue stream for 2005 with new accounts including several healthcare and pharma giants, in addition to France Telecom. Following the launch of a Singapore office, MCI opened a Dubai base last month and is now looking into further offices in India, China and South America.
