First Hilton to open in Ukraine

Hilton International Corporation has signed an agreement with the International Business Centre and Hotel Business Development Company (a wholly owned subsidiary of International Business Centre) to operate a five-star luxury hotel in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev. The £39m project is scheduled for completion in mid-2009 and Hilton International Co. will operate the Hilton Kiev on behalf of its owners for a period of 20 years. Hilton Europe and Africa president Wolfgang Neumann said: “It is no secret that we have been looking for years to find an appropriate project in Kiev. We are convinced that the Hilton Kiev hotel will meet and exceed the expectations of our customers and guests and will be a landmark building in the capital of Ukraine, contributing to the growth of the business and leisure markets throughout the country.” General director of International Business Centre Alexander Lashko added that the hotel would be designed to attract both international and domestic visitors. “This is a landmark project in the very heart of Kiev. I believe the city and the Ukraine as a whole will greatly benefit from having the Hilton brand.” The 257-room Hilton Kiev will be located on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard 28-30, only a few blocks from the Opera House and the Golden Gate, with direct views of the Botanical Gardens. The hotel is also in close proximity to government offices, ministries and embassies, making it convenient for business guests. The property will offer state-of-the art meeting facilities including a business centre, 11 meeting rooms, a VIP room, a boardroom and a ballroom with a capacity for 350 delegates.
