Le Méridien continues Asia expansion with new Thailand resort

Le Méridien has opened a new resort in Thailand with a view to developing its portfolio across Asia. Situated along Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, the 250-room resort will open in January 2009 and will offer 1,000 sqm of meeting space, three food outlets, a swimming pool and spa. With less than an hour’s drive from Bangkok’s new international airport that opens in 2006, the resort hopes to appeal to business travellers. Le Méridien’s senior vice-president, Michael Wale said: "The latest addition to the Le Meridien portfolio is an exciting and significant development for Starwood. The brand has a healthy development pipeline already in place, with more than 10 hotels planned to open in 2006 in destinations including India and China." The hotel is Starwood’s second in Pattaya and 17th in Thailand.
