Macdonald Botley Park Hotel boosts events team

Two key appointments have strengthened the conference and events team at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club. Lawrence Herbert has joined the four-star hotel as senior conference and events co-ordinator, while Emma Board has been appointed assistant conference and events co-ordinator. General manager Gordon Riddell said the new appointments would ensure an efficient and smooth service for customers booking the hotel's new multi-million pound conference and events centre. “The new facilities are proving extremely popular,”' he said. “Lawrence and Emma's appointments are the final pieces in the jigsaw to ensure the Macdonald Botley Park can offer the best and most comprehensive conference and events service in Hampshire.'” Herbert, 25, has worked in the hospitality industry since his schooldays, helping in a family-run restaurant before going on to university to study for a degree in catering and hotel management. After graduating he managed two Costa Coffee outlets in Cheltenham, and then worked with the Starbucks company before joining the four-star Mollington Banastre hotel in Chester as conference and banqueting manager. “I was attracted to the job at The Macdonald Botley Park Hotel partly because of the opportunity to be involved in such a wide range of events,” he said. “We have a very good team in place here now and are in a great position to move forward to ensure the Macdonald Botley Park is the premier conference and events destination for the county.'” Board, 22, from Bitterne, has joined the hotel straight from achieving a 2:1 degree in BA International Tourism Management. She said: “I have had a lot of work experience and holiday posts in hotels but it is fantastic to begin my full-time career with a hotel and conference facility of this calibre.” The £6m state-of-the-art centre has space for 400 people and is fitted with a full range of high tech equipment, staging, front and back projection facilities. It doubles the size of the hotel's previous facility and the new 342m2 Fair Oak Suite is linked to the original site by an impressive glass atrium.
