Etihad announces Manchester flight

Etihad Airways - the national airline of the United Arab Emirates - has announced the launch of a daily service between Manchester and Abu Dhabi in spring 2006. Guests using the service will fly on a luxurious Airbus medium range A330 aircraft, carrying around 300 guests. Abu Dhabi International Airport lies in the heart of the UAE, close to the capital Abu Dhabi and a short drive from Dubai. Guests in Etihad’s premium cabins are eligible for a complimentary chauffeur drive service between the airport and their final destination anywhere in the UAE. The flights from Manchester will complement the Etihad Airways daily flights already in operation from both London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports. Etihad Airways recognises Manchester Airport as one of Britain’s and the world’s principle airports. It currently handles over 22 million passengers a year, offering the North of England with direct flights to over 200 destinations worldwide by over 100 airlines. Peter Dunkin, General Manager UK & Ireland said, "We are delighted to be starting services from Manchester. This will provide excellent links between the North of the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Asia and the Far East. This is excellent news for both the business and leisure travellers in Northern England." The airline will be recruiting operational and sales staff to be based in the region.
