Lyon wins major business for 2007

The Lyon Convention Centre has secured five medical conferences for 2007 that will bring more than 15,500 delegates to Lyon and generate some 57,000 bed-nights in the area. The wins – including the 11th French language conference of pneumology from 2-5 February, and the Francophone convention on digestive pathology from 17-21 March – are on the back of the centre’s long-term prospecting policy and the opening of salle 3000 in June 2006, which will triple its overall surface area from 8,170 m2 to 25,000 m2 and be able to accommodate 19,000 delegates. The centre currently offers three amphitheatres seating 300, 900 and 3,000 delegates for plenary sessions, six forums with a total exhibition surface area of 8,400 m2 and 26 fully equipped sub-committee rooms. The city itself has 11,000 rooms.
