Copenhagen to host 2007 MPI conference

Copenhagen will host the 2007 Meeting Professionals International (MPI) European Education Conference, while London has been chosen to host the event in 2008. The host cities were announced at MPI’s World Education Conference held in early July in Miami, following a voting session by MPI’s board of directors on 9 July. "All credit must go to Wonderful Copenhagen for winning this bid," said Visit Denmark marketing manager Jonathan Cohen. "Next year the Copenhagen/Oresund region has been chosen to host the 35,000-delegate World Rotary Congress, so even if all 20,000 MPI global members turn up, Copenhagen will still be able to accommodate them." London also welcomed the opportunity to showcase the city to the industry just four years before it hosts the Olympic Games. "There will be many changes underway in London by 2008 in preparation for the Olympics," said Visit London commercial director David Hornby. "So this is a great chance to update industry professionals on our progress." The 2006 event will take place in Davos, in Switzerland, from 26 to 28 March.
