CIT rallies sector to support the Games

CIT is calling on readers to ‘Back the Bid’ in support of London’s efforts to host the 2012 Olympic Games. In association with Visit London, CIT has devised a website to register support from the meetings sector. The site, which is at www.citmagazine.com/ olympics, will be ready by mid-January, and the magazine’s readers will be directed to the Visit London website, although their ‘votes’ will remain separate to those of the public. Alternatively, they can call a dedicated CIT campaign number. "This will allow us to demonstrate to the International Olympic Committee that as an industry we are a united force," said Visit London commercial director David Hornby. "I am delighted CIT is leading the way in rallying the MICE industry." According to Hornby the full impact of London’s bid, let alone winning it, has yet to dawn on many in the events industry. "The amount of incentive business this will generate is mind-blowing," he said. To raise awareness of the opportunities, a conference is being held on Monday 17 January at the QEII Conference Centre targeting, among others, professionals in leisure and tourism. To register online visit www.neilstewartassociates .com and press the ‘conferences’ link.
