Crisis strategies are a ‘must have’ says ICCA chief

Crisis management plans need to be embedded into association conference strategies and not treated as an added extra, EIBTM visitors were told. Chairing a debate on the issue, ICCA chief executive officer Martin Sirk urged associations to take the issue seriously. "The association market is one of the most resilient in the industry," he said. "They have to hold their meetings and so they must have back-up plans and assess issues of risk and security." The Association of British Travel Agents has long implemented such a plan, said public relations manager Frances Tuke. "Each year we adjust it according to the location of our convention."
