Jack Morton looks to post-Olympics boom

Events agency Jack Morton Worldwide, which launched last month’s Olympic Opening Ceremony in Athens, is tipping the city to increase its share of the C&I market. Jack Morton’s president of international operations Lois Jacobs confirmed that the city’s infrastructure has dramatically improved in the lead-up to the Games. "The 2004 Games could do for Athens what the 1992 Games did for Barcelona," she said. "We are very keen to bring UK groups to Athens after the games. There are some fantastic venues now available, and we have established good relationships with talented local contractors and suppliers." Jack Morton has had a presence in Athens since early 2003, and currently employs more than 500 staff. It expects to continue working in Greece, although it is unlikely to maintain the office in its present form. The Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, performed to audiences of 75,000, were masterminded by the UK branch of Jack Morton. It is the first time in Olympic history that a non-local events agency has been responsible for the ceremonies.
