Event agency set to benefit from IBR deal

IBR has acquired event management agency McGarvey Russell and sister company McGarvey Russell Marketing (MRM) in a move to help both companies grow and enhance the services they currently offer. "IBR had been looking to identify opportunities for expansion for some time," said sales and marketing director Fay Sharpe. "We were delighted that Sally McGarvey [MD of McGarvey Russell] was interested in our proposition as it’s a fantastic agency with a similar culture of looking after its staff and maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients." The acquisition will allow McGarvey Russell to benefit from the IT solutions and production expertise of IBR, while the latter will be able to expand into motivational programmes. Another legacy is the way IBR can now function as an ATOL-bonded and IATA-accredited agency, meaning it will be in charge of handling its own group travel arrangements and will no longer have to rely on intermediaries. McGarvey Russell will continue to trade as a separate brand and the 40 staff from the agency are to keep their jobs.
