Cotton steps down after Concorde deal

Vanessa Cotton is to step down as MD of The Event Organisation Company following its sale to Chiswick-based agency Concorde Services. The acquisition coincides with Cotton’s plans to move away from event delivery and focus on "the strategic side of the business" in an international context. She refused to be drawn on what form this might take, but said an announcement on her new role would be made in around a month’s time. All bar two of The Event Organisation Company’s existing clients have opted to transfer their accounts, noted Cotton, who said she was confident the takeover would ensure consistency of service for end users. "The whole transition has been very smooth as there is a lot of synergy between the two agencies," said Cotton. "Both are used to handling large-scale conferences with exhibition and sponsorship elements attached; we have experience of using many of the same venues; and each is IS09001-certified." Cotton maintained that both agencies "had worked hard to keep any redundancies to a minimum".
