Bainbridge fills post as BI head of events

Ex-Archer Young head of events Emma Bainbridge has succeeded John Hooker as BI head of event management, executive vice- president David Hackett has exclusively told CIT. Hooker left in December to take up the position of general manager at the new Dubai International Convention Centre. "I am confident that the skills, passion and experience Emma brings to this role are exactly what we are looking for," said Hackett. "She is a worthy successor to John and has a genuine talent that she will be able to grow here." Bainbridge’s appointment as head rather than director of event management is a strategic move, as Hackett explained: "Emma’s priority will be to get close to her team of 17 full-time staff before moving on to deal with broader management issues." The agency has also announced MD David Tonnison is to become non-executive chairman. It is understood Tonnison will focus on acquisitions and non-organic growth – "we are looking broadly in terms of business type and geography," said Hackett. He added the agency is "optimistic" about a candidate it has identified for the MD role and an announcement will be made shortly.
