Italy CVB initiative targets C&I organisers

Italy’s Romagna Riviera Convention Bureau (CBRR) has launched initiatives to pull in more conference business to the area, from fam trips for overseas organisers to training courses for local suppliers. The CBRR’s educational tours last three days on average and "can be tailored to include special interests", according to promotions officer Coralie Delaubert. Popular elements include inspections of local conference facilities at the new Rimini Expo Centre, the Palacongressi or the San Marino Kursaal. Incentive options are also showcased, including the Santa Monica racetrack, where speed driving courses can be organised, and the Ferrari museum, available for private hire or evening receptions. As part of its ongoing quality control programme that aims to accredit local event suppliers, the CBRR is also rolling out training courses. So far, it reports that 37 companies have enrolled employees on the customer service module and 23 on business English. The area’s conference product is to be further boosted in 2005, when multi-functional venue the PalaRiccione opens.
