Bedfordshire CVB is set for April launch

The Bedfordshire Conference Bureau (BCB) is to officially launch in April. The full-service bureau will be led by Mid Beds District Council, along with its partners Bedford Borough, South Beds District and the County Councils. “Establishing the bureau has been on the county’s agenda for a number of years, and we now have all the partners on board to launch it,” said BCB assistant tourism officer Darren Flint. Hotels and conference venues have also signed up to join the bureau, although they will not be fee-paying members. “Any profit we make will be ploughed back into the bureau,” said Flint. “We consulted suppliers and they all agreed a conference bureau was the way forward.” There are no statistics for conference business to the county because of the separate marketing of individual venues. Flint added that the bureau would undertake a feasibility study into finding potential sites for developing a purpose-built conference centre. The bureau’s marketing will include fam trips and the BCB exhibited at Confex for the first time. “Bedfordshire is extremely accessible for delegates from the Midlands and London,” said Flint. “The county has a whole range of hotel chains and purpose-built conference centres, such as Wyboston Lakes, Cranfield University and the Millbrook Concept Centre.”
