Sector prepared to spend its way out of recession

Marketing spend is to grow in the UK conference and hospitality industry this year as companies prepare for an upturn in sentiment, according to a survey by agency Davies Tanner. More than 200 destinations were surveyed to determine the proposed marketing spend by hotels, conference centres and event venues. More than half (57%) of venues said they were intending to increase their spend. “Many have learned the lessons from the last recession, where those that cut marketing spend found themselves in a prolonged stagnation of the market,” said Davies Tanner managing partner Robert Wright.
