Maritz names team for European drive

Maritz has appointed a team of advisers to head up its European arm in a bid to expand its operations on the continent. The new team is expected to bring Maritz Europa in line with the company’s global operations. Maritz Travel chairman Graham Frazer has been appointed vice-president of Maritz Travel Europe, while CEO of Maritz Europa Rob Follows will head up the leadership team. Frazer retains his role as chairman of Maritz Travel in the UK but day-to-day management has been handed over to managing director Nick Bender and board members Bill Buchanan, Giselle Ripkin and Shaun Casey. In his new role Frazer will oversee the integration of new travel operations in Europe. Recent acquisitions include incentive agency Incentive House in Spain and FCI in Germany (CIT, April 2002). “The company is pursuing aggressive expansion in Europe and further acquisitions are planned,” said Frazer. “The appointments ensure we have the infrastructure in place to support a bigger European operation and meet client demands.” Other European board members include Don Brommet, president of Maritz Travel International, Kevin Brundrett, CEO Maritz Performance Improvement EMEA, and Laurence Curtis, CEO of Maritz Research EMEA. l Maritz Travel has introduced two new products. Participant Care is a data-management system, particularly suited to pharmaceutical firms, while a tie-up with charity Raleigh International aims to meet demand for more rewarding events. Programmes include community-led projects, such as building playgrounds in remote villages in Namibia.
