BACD redefines meeting venues

The British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) is to relaunch its annual British Conference Market Trends Survey, in a bid to standardise industry definitions and allow for greater comparability. Entitled British Conference Venues Survey, it sets a minimum standard, for the first time, for what constitutes a conference venue. To qualify, venues must be a paid-for facility with at least three meeting rooms and minimum capacity of 50 theatre-style in its largest room. “The survey is crucial to our monitoring of new and emerging trends,” said BACD executive director Tony Rogers. “Better research will further the case for more investment in the sector.”
