Williamson moves to Motivaction job

Former managing director of Global Event Solutions Malcolm Williamson has joined rival agency Motivaction as chairman. His role will include overseeing all the group’s operations, including its Meeting Point Conferences division and its learning and development arm M-Learn. Williamson said he had explored a number of different options and found Motivaction represented the kind of business he wanted to be involved in. “There were two main reasons for my joining Motivaction,” explained Williamson. “I was impressed with what the company has achieved so far and believe it has great vision and aspiration for the future. We will grow the business with a view to floating the company in five years.” Williamson was on hand to witness seven redundancies at Global Event Solutions in April this year and saw parent company Hogg Robinson incorporate the agency into its travel management firm BTI UK. “Global Event Solutions came to a natural conclusion and it was time for me to move on,” added Williamson. He believes Motivaction is more product-led than Global Event Solutions was, and this is something he is keen to add to. “In order to build up the business we need to diversify,” he said. “To be more service-led we need to focus more on conferences, incentives and events, whereas Motivaction currently offers a range of products such as reward schemes,” he said. “This way we will grow the business organically, although we have not ruled out the possibility of acquisitions either.”
