Maritz Spainish buy beefs up Euro offer

Maritz Travel has boosted its European network by acquiring Spanish incentive agency Incentive House. Commenting on the acquisition of the Madrid outfit, Maritz Travel Ltd commercial director Shaun Casey said: "This new office will greatly enhance the service we are able to provide clients who are involved in organising pan-European events. The Spanish firm is a good strategic fit for the company and should help us win bigger and more important pieces of business." Casey continued: "We are increasingly being asked by clients how they can handle their C&I programmes in Europe without incurring additional charges. Particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, for instance, corporate clients who have their headquarters here, but who are part of an international company, will often need to manage their local programmes in overseas markets from the UK office. With our network of European agencies, we can offer this added-value service, something that few other agencies can." Incentive House-Maritz Travel managing director Macarena Hidalgo will retain her post and report to Don Brommet, president of Maritz Travel International, who has responsibility for all Maritz Travel offices outside the US. According to Brommet, the agency will be able to "meet the Spanish needs of Maritz’ European and global clients, as well as harnessing multi-lingual teams and local knowledge for pan-European events in Spain." The latest acquisition follows Maritz’ purchase of FCI in Germany and brings the number of employees in its European network to 400.
