JNTO eyes UK incentive sector

The Japan National Tourist Organisation (JNTO) is planning to target the UK incentive market more fully in 2002, having previously concentrated on the association sector. "We will be running our fam trip to a number of Japan’s 49 convention cities between 15 and 21 November," said JNTO London director Simon Halewood. An awareness-building roadshow may form part of further promotional activities. Halewood added that the JNTO was hoping the FIFA World Cup in May/June would help raise Japan’s profile among C&I buyers. "We have already noticed a marked rise in interest from incentive houses looking to use the destination in 2003," he said. The JNTO will also launch new prices for its convention travel package from April, which will be similar to those that ran until the end of March. A round-trip airfare on Japan airlines and four nights accommodation started from £910.
