Euro MPI head aims for growth

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has elected a new president of its European Council. Jaap Liethof, commercial director of the Hotels van Oranje in the Netherlands, takes up the post for one year, replacing Rolf Nordholm, president of Nordholm Management in Sweden. He will also serve as a representative of the European Council on the International Board of Directors. Leithof will focus on education and the growth of the European membership. "Educating the world about our industry is crucial," he said. "MPI is well positioned to raise the profile of our industry and we will carry out projects to push this area." Liethof has been an MPI member since 1994, twice serving on the marketing board of the Netherlands Chaper and has been a member of the European Council for the last two years. MPI welcomed more than 100 new European members in the first quarter of this year, giving a total of 1,100.
