Crowne Plaza Reading has reopened following a £6.5m refurbishment to the former Holiday Inn Reading property. The hotel has seen all 122 rooms upgraded and now features five high-spec function spaces that can cater for between five and 200 delegates. Tel: 0118 925 9988

May Fair Hotel opens again after £75m refurb

Radisson Edwardian's May Fair Hotel reopens this month following a two-year, £75m redesign and refit. The extended property has 80 new bedrooms and an extra floor has been added. Function room upgrades include the new 250-delegate capacity Crystal Room, which features a £1m Baccarat chandelier, the largest in Europe. The hotel also offers London's largest private cinema which seats 201 and features an electronic voting system, a business centre and a luxurious spa. Clients have included Toshiba and HSBC. Prestwood Hall on track for Maverick brand

Prestwold Hall has joined three other period properties in the Midlands under the umbrella of Maverick, a newly formed event planning, catering and venue management service. The hall, which can host conferences for up to 100 and has three break-out rooms, is launching an 'Italian Job' team-building package this autumn at the only estate-apart from Goodwood - that boasts a racetrack. Radisson SAS has completed the refurbishment of the four rooms in its Edinburgh Royal Mile property. The individually styled rooms have their own dedicated reception desk, break-out zones and are wi-fi enabled.

The Royal Hotel in Cardiff has reopened its Scott Room following a refurbishment of the Niche Hotels' property. The naturally-lit room can hold 110 delegates theatre-style, and was used by Captain Scott before his final South Pole venture. Tel: 029 2055 0750

De Vere Grand Harbour in Southampton has unveiled new conference facilities following a £450,000 investment. The 11 conference and meeting rooms can now host events for up to 500 delegates at the five-star south-coast property. Tel: 023 8063 3033

Novotel has opened the Reading Centre, its latest New Generation style hotel, which offers enhanced service levels and conferencing facilities.
