The multiple booking system means venues can offer the same options to numerous bookers simultaneously. To move the debate on, the HBAA is creating a working party of corporates, agencies and venues to thrash out best practice. "We need to find out what is behind the problem and establish how we can reach a compromise," said Gasson.
The objective came out of the HBAA's annual strategy meeting at the end of September. Other plans include creating closer links with corporates, encouraging better utilisation of the HBAA and a membership push.
Elsewhere, the association is lining a series of public consultation days to find out what members want from the HBAA.
