Diary: Hungary under fire for not keeping the faith

Diary's eye was caught by an Observer story about a row between the Hungarian Tourist Board and the conservative, not to say deeply catholic, burghers of the spa region of Lake Balaton. An online ad campaign designed to attract a younger audience to supplement the ageing German trippers, features a saucy cartoon of a man, so smitten by a bikini-clad lovely that he plans a seduction and is seen - horrors - to remove his wedding ring. "Balaton is a family resort, not a place for this sort of thing," says one outraged local. Diary understands there are no plans for a Balaton Club 18-30.
