Diary: York and Humber says 'Hurray for Bollywood!'
It's not often that the famous northern double act, the alluringly monikered Yorkshire and Humber, gets to put one over on more glamorous international destinations such as New York. But now red carpet suppliers will be batting their eyelids alluringly at the regional tourism body after it pulled off the coup of landing the International Indian Film Academy Awards - the 'Boscars' if you will - in 2007. The actual event will pull in 28,000 film fans, but there is serious money to be made with an estimated tourist spend of £9.5m and the possibility of a regional air route to India. Champagne all round!
