Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe has opened in the heart of Dresden. The 185-room four-star property is located opposite the newly renovated Frauenkirche on Neumarkt Square, on the same site as the original Hotel de Saxe, which closed in 1888. The Big Brother House will be available for corporate events, once all of the current occupants have been evicted. The venue will be available for groups during September and October. Hilton has opened its fifth property in Ireland. The Dublin Airport Hilton is just two miles from the airport and boasts 166 bedrooms. The Conrad Tokyo opened on 1 July, the first hotel in Japan for the chain. The 290-room property occupies the top ten floors of the Tokyo Shiodome building and offers a spa, two ballrooms and six banqueting spaces. Tel: +81 363 88 8000

Hotel Okura in Amsterdam has completed the renovation of 56 of its 370 rooms. They are now the largest standard hotel rooms in the city. Work is ongoing on elsewhere in the five-star hotel, but will not disrupt business. Tel: +31 20 67 87 111

Blau Porto Petro Beach Resort and Spa has opened in Mallorca, Spain, and is the most recent addition to the Great Hotels of the World portfolio. The low-rise five-star property is situated on a 900m stretch of sand and offers 319 rooms. Tel: +34 97 17 57 657

Days Hotel Luton has been inaugurated, becoming the 39th Days Inn property in the UK. It is situated less than ten minutes' drive from Luton Airport and offers 120 bedrooms, two conference rooms and broadband internet access. Tel: 0800 028 0400

The Sarojin in Khao Lak will open in Thailand in early September. Located one hour north of Phuket airport, it offers 56 guest residences and a 25m pool set in ten acres by the sea. Guests can also enjoy a spa, fitness centre and three different dining options. Tel: +66 76 427 905.
