VENUE FOCUS: International - First Ice Hotel in French Canada opens for business

Ice Hotel Quebec, which opened in January 2001, is the first of its kind for Canada. Featuring 22 guest rooms, the structure took five weeks to build and is available for accommodation, product launches and corporate events until the spring melt around the end of March. The halls are decorated with artwork, the furniture is made from sheer ice and snow and ice candelabras hang from 5 m ceilings. Facilities at the hotel include two art galleries, a movie theatre and the Absolute Ice Bar, which can cater for up to 300 people.
