UK business tourism remains undervalued

Business tourism remains a poor relation to leisure tourism in terms of funding, despite its growing importance to the UK economy. Speaking at the second National Conference on Business Tourism, Business Tourism Partnership chairman Michael Hirst said British destinations needed more resources to tackle international competition. "Visit Britain's funding has stood still for the past seven years and less than 5% of its budget goes to business tourism, which accounts for nearly 25% of all tourism receipts," he said.
