Diary: Born too late to cash in

Sri Lankan Airlines (SLA) has come up with a jaunty way of marking its silver anniversary. Anyone born or married on its day of conception, 1 September 1979, is eligible for a hefty discount on air tickets to the island. The spirit should be commended, although Diary was born far too late to benefit from the deal (ahem). SLA also counts among its accolades the 'World's Friendliest Cabin Crew 2002', but whether 2003 and 2004 have seen even chirpier crews usurp them, or whether they've become progressively grumpier, is unclear.
